Jen is a professional singer, vocal coach and performance coach. She started her performing life as a dancer, taking Tap classes at a young age. During her teenage years Jen explored hip-hop and contemporary dance while also being involved in several musical societies, this is where she discovered her love for singing. Jen has been studying voice since 2009 and graduated from BIMM Dublin in 2015. As an accomplished singer she has experience in musical theatre performances, live band performances and studio recording. Her versatility in genres can be seen in her teaching approach but her own vocal style is strongly rooted in Soul and Blues music. Since graduating, as well as performing, Jen has delved even deeper into the world of vocal pedagogy and has attended voice conferences such as VIP (Vocology In Practice), two years running. She completed her BAST training under Kaya Kerstad Carney and has been coached by Chris Johnson of The Naked Vocalists and Dr. Trineice Robinson, creator of Soul Ingredients. In 2018 Jen set up her own vocal studio where she teaches individuals from beginners to professionals and regularly runs the group performance course ‘SIng It! Live!’. She also taught voice in the Gaiety School of Acting in 2018 and was delighted to be asked back to BIMM Dublin in 2020 as a Lecturer in the vocal department. Jen is currently a vocalist in Yankari Afrobeat Collective and as well as studying for a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching, she plans to train in vocal first aid with Vocal Health Education in the coming months.
