ALICIA

 

Alicia has developed a supportive and encouraging teaching style that is focused on building pupils confidence through vocal technique, repertoire development, performance skills and microphone technique, harmonising, songwriting and music theory. Individual private lessons are tailored to children and adults of all levels in a fun and friendly environment. Alicia also offers singing and music workshops, for classrooms and small groups in schools and choirs.

As an experienced vocal tutor whose pupils range from nursery children up to adults Alicia has taught at theatre schools and music colleges, where she has lectured at degree level. Both the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and the London College of Music (LCM) syllabus is taught for classical, musical theatre and pop/rock singing grades. Alicia has a 100% pass rate with the majority achieving high merit and distinction. Music theory and music GCSE tutoring is also available. In addition, Alicia prepares pupils for competitions, performances, and auditions with some pupils going on to full time performing arts training. Outside her own busy private practice, Alicia is a ‘Team and Outreach’ teacher at the Janice Thompson Performance Trust teaching singing and running curriculum based workshops, ‘Musical Director’ at Chippenham Youth Theatre and teaches musical theatre at The Kirsty Farrow Dance Academy and Chippenham Stagecoach. 

She has taught preschool music classes through to foundation degree level music students and is an experienced performer having worked as a soloist and in numerous blues bands, duos, jazz quartets, function bands, as well as writing and performing original work. Alicia has a dance background and was a member of Swindon Youth Dance Academy and Swindon Youth Talent Programme, the precursor for the highly acclaimed Swindon Youth Dance Academy. She has trained with Penny Price-Jones, Kim Chandler, Jono McNeil and Line Hilton and received teacher training with Janice Thompson and Coral Gould.
